THE PRIORITIES
Fiscal Responsibility
I will continue the strong fiscal discipline that has made Sandy Springs the envy of the Metro Atlanta area. This commitment has earned us a AAA/Aaa credit rating—the highest possible—from both S&P and Moody’s. It also enables us to maintain a healthy “rainy day” fund and support the highest-paid police and fire departments in the state.
Communication
I believe a well-informed community is a strong community. The effort to keep Spalding Elementary School open is a perfect example of residents coming together to address a critical issue through shared knowledge and engagement.
Communication will be especially important during the upcoming Comprehensive Plan 5-Year Update, which will directly affect all of us.
On day one, I will:
- Launch a district-wide newsletter
- Hold quarterly in-person town hall meetings to discuss issues impacting our district and city
- Be accessible—whether by email, phone, text, at the grocery store, community events, or while walking our neighborhoods, I am here to listen and act
- Provide clear, consistent direction to the City Manager, city staff, and all departments
Responsible Development & Thoughtful Re-Development
For Sandy Springs to thrive and take its next step forward, our approach to development and redevelopment must be both intentional and balanced.
The city must take a more active role in promoting the types of projects we need. We must move beyond focus groups and task forces to create a pragmatic environment that encourages diverse housing options—including multifamily, single-family build-to-rent, for-sale properties, and innovative ideas that may be new to us all.
This won’t be without challenges, but it is essential to our city’s future.
